Health Services, Policy and Practice On the Web.In addition to my my clinical work and research, I teach Research Methods in Population Medicine to medical students and serve as Director of the Master of Science in Population Medicine program at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. I have held national leadership positions within emergency medicine as well as cross disciplinary organizations such as national president of Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR) and national board president of Injury Free Coalition for Kids. My own research has focused on behavioral change interventions to decrease injury recidivism with emergency department patients. I am currently PI on research fund by NIAAA, previously served as PI on other NIH grants, CDC grants, SAMHSA grant and foundation grants (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Emergency Medicine Foundation). Since 2000, I have also been the Director of the Injury Prevention Center at Rhode Island Hospital and also Director of its research fellowship. I am a practicing board certified emergency physician with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Alpert Medical School of Brown University with over thirty years of clinical experience.
